Guild Session – Creating a Permablitz Design

It’s been quite a while, but the Guild Session is back!
As a reminder, these sessions are primarily a networking and knowledge sharing forum for our Design Guild members. We welcome all interested in Permablitz or Permaculture to come along and see what’s on offer.
This event is intended to boost PDC graduates’ confidence in working on designs – whether that be for a permablitz or a client.
A site analysis and assessment performed recently by Martin, Martijn and Jon for a future permablitz
This Session is going to be a little different to our previous ones for a number of reasons:
- We’re running it on a weekend
- We’re going to create an actual working design for a real family (This will most likely result in a future permablitz)
- There will be a practical element to the day (hot compost – YEAH!)
- We’re going to share a meal. Because that’s the permablitz way!
Workshops
- Working out what the client really wants
- Making a hot compost
- Consolidating design ideas. A recap of sector analysis, zones, water, pathways, etc.
There will be a number of exercises on the day to reinforce the above workshops.
What to bring:
- A notepad and pen
- A water bottle
- Gardening gloves (you may be getting into the hot compost!)
- A plate of food to share with everyone for lunch. Potluck lunch – yum!
Workshop Instructors
Kushala is a Permaculture designer, teacher, and artisan landscaper, who is passionate about ecological design and cultivating local organic foodscapes. Check out his site here.
Raphael runs his own gardening and landscaping business, recently completed a PDC and has developed a serious addiction to the adrenaline rush of creating hot composts.
Adrian has worked behind the scenes of Permablitz since 2014, has contributed to the designs of 3 permablitzes and attended more than he can count. He keeps chickens and bees, and his proudest gardening moment was harvesting his own coffee beans in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Does it cost anything?
As you know, permablitz is entirely volunteer-run and organised. Some of the funds raised on the day will go towards re-imbursing workshop instructors for the time they have given, with the rest going towards a future permablitz for the design being created on the day.
So how much? That’s up to you. Consider how much a day course costs elsewhere. Consider what you can afford. There’s no pressure either way, it’s whatever you’re comfortable with.
