Permablitz #187 – Hampton Park
On a day that had forecast heavy rains, the sun shined over Jeremy and Bianca’s home in Hampton Park, ready for a day of transformative action!
Laura and Anne had spent months creating a design to complement Jeremy and Bianca’s family dream – to live a lifestyle that instills a love of the environment into the children, as well as being able to teach them where their food comes from – as naturally as can be!

The day kicked off with the most arduous of tasks – couch grass removal! The volunteers worked long and hard to clear a patch in the yard for veggie beds and a path, and as the day went on their tenacity never faltered.
Irrigation was also put in, with trenches dug an agi pipes put in place. The pond was dig out, and Jeremy was able to fill it the following day – it looks great!
The veggie beds were put together, giving Jeremy and Bianca’s family ample space to plant out a good spring and summer crop. Corn and tomatoes will definitely go in soon!
The wicking bed boxes and aquaponic structures are in place, but unfortunately due to lower-than-hoped attendance these jobs were unfinished on the day. But in turning the problem into the solution, several volunteers expressed excitement at the prospect of a follow-up blitz to complete the Hampton Park transformation.
