Is our future going to waste?
As recycling and disposable plastic continue to make headlines, the war on waste is ramping up on all fronts. Abroad, the European Union leads the transition to a circular economy. In Australia, supermarkets have banned plastic bags, and community initiatives like Plastic Free July are gathering momentum.
Here in Melbourne, our new Lord Mayor Sally Capp has declared improvements on waste a top priority. So roll up your sleeves and throw out your preconceptions – because Melbourne Conversations is talking trash with:
Erin Rhoads – blogger and activist, The Rogue Ginger
Trevor Thornton – Lecturer in Hazardous Waste Materials, Deakin University
Matt Genever – Director (incoming), Resource Recovery, Sustainability Victoria
