Winter Food Forest; Walk, Talk & Taste
Date(s) - July 28, 2019
Time - 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
This is a third-party event not organised by Permablitz. We've added it because we reckon it looks pretty good!
Location - Edible Eden Design
Take this rare opportunity to visit Karen’s own food forest, Gunyah in Pascoe Vale South for an intimate guided tour of what’s on offer in winter. Karen’s garden produces food all year round and there are a number of unusual edible plants that make this possible in winter, such as perennial bell pepper, avocado, yacon and choko. Learn how to grow more winter edibles, from annual to perennial, and reduce your reliance on shop bought produce. Notes and a Gunayh garden plant list are provided as well as a packet of seeds saved from the garden to get you started. Organic teas and coffee are included.
We are no longer holding large Open Gardens so these small events and private garden tours are the only way to visit the garden
Karen Sutherland, of Edible Eden Design, has more than 25 years’ experience designing, planting and maintaining gardens, with a special emphasis on bushfoods, edible and sustainable gardens. She grew up gardening, amongst a family of gardeners and farmers, and continues this family tradition, enthusiastically helping others to live this choice of home produce-growing. Karen also uses current technologies that are sustainable and beneficial to the environment, always seeking to benefit the garden site and the people and creatures that rely on it. Karen is qualified in both horticulture and permaculture.
