COVID-Safe Permablitzes in the New Year
With the reducing restrictions in Victoria, we have started looking at how we can start Permablitzes again in the new year.
The Victorian government’s requirements for a COVID-Safe plan provides a framework for ensuring safe running of our events and we’re looking at adapting blitzes with this in mind. Of course, the list below is based on current recommendations and if the government relaxes these further, then we will also have more flexibility.
Blitzes:
- Ensure physical distancing
- Smaller group sizes, determined by the 4 square metres of space per person outdoors. Avoid physical contact such as shaking hands.
- Wear a face covering
- As per government guidelines, face masks must be worn when not socially distanced.
- Practise good hygiene
- Sanitiser would be provided, bring your own food, cup and water.
- Wipe down frequently touched surfaces and tools when swapping (or wear gloves).
- Keep records and act quickly if workers become unwell
- Sign in sheet with contact details. Alternatively set up a QR code online sign-in system.
- Do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
- Let the host know if you become unwell after the event.
- Avoid interactions in enclosed spaces
- Our activities are outside, so this one’s pretty easy.
- Create workforce bubbles
- Don’t attend multiple blitzes with different people in a short period.
Designers visiting hosts:
- Ensure physical distancing
- Avoid physical contact such as shaking hands.
- Wear a face covering
- Wear a face mask during visit.
- Practise good hygiene
- Bring your own food, water and sanitiser.

- Keep a note of when you visited.
- Avoid interactions in enclosed spaces
- Stick to remaining outside where possible.
- Create workforce bubbles
- Work on one Permablitz project at a time.
We’d love to hear any feedback that you have on how we can ensure that everyone involved remains safe. We’ll keep you posted on further developments and we can’t wait to see you all again in 2021!
