Permablitz Intro to Permaculture Course #2
Due to interest and demand from the permablitz community, we're running another two-day Introduction to Permaculture course on the weekend of February 23rd and 24th. We had overwhelmingly good feedback from the last one, and it was a lot of fun too. So please come along!
Time and location:
Port Philip EcoCentre, St Kilda Botanical Gardens.
Cnr Herbert and Blessington Streets, St Kilda
Melway ref. 58 B11
We're switching things around a bit this time, but these are the likely topics:
- Intro, history and scope of permaculture
- Permaculture ethics
- The following permaculture principles:
1. Observe and interact
2. Catch and store energy
3. Obtain a yield
4. Apply self regulation and accept feedback
5. Use and value renewable resources and services
6. Produce no waste
7. Design from patterns to details
8. Integrate rather than segregate
9. Use small and slow solutions
10. Use and value diversity
11. Use edges and value the marginal
12. Creatively use and respond to change
Within these principles we'll be covering some practical strategies for:
- Soil care
- Water harvesting techniques
- Urban animals
- Companion planting
- Multiple uses for each functional element of a design
- Backing up major functions
- Locating complimentary elements in a design
