Permablitz Deis-y-Seite (17) on March 18 2007 – A Description of the Day
Permablitz Deis-y-Seite (17) was a fun day and a great success. A huge turn out of enthusiastic and skilled folk came along and transformed parts of Fiona and Anthony’s yard. The day started off with some finalising of the design and changes occurred throughout the day as people’s ideas infiltrated the plan to take advantage of the slope of the land and so on. In the front garden a pond, pathways and garden beds were put in, along with a bush tucker plant and a bean cover crop amongst others. Worm castings were added to the beds and a worm farm installed out the back. Other teams worked on putting up a fox proof chicken shed, seeding trays up for future blitz planting and getting the site cleaned up and prepared for more work at a future blitz! Other activities included removing seeds from the sunflowers and cooking up fantastic pesto pasta. Fiona talked about her tank and grey water set up and we were fortunate enough to have a viewing of Tanya Curnow’s film and a demonstration of a designing computer program. To top the day off we had a drum and a dance. A big thanks to all those who came along. Also somebody left their jumper! (It’s green.)
