Permablitz Kingsville South
A permaculture fairy tale in pictures.
Once upon a time, on an invigoratingly brisk spring day in the far-away kingdom of Kingsville South, a rich mountain of soil awaited a team of super-volunteers to magically transform it a glamorous sustainable garden – a big thanks to The Green Centre for providing the soil!
The young and not-quite-so-young answered the call …
The super-volunteers listened attentively to their mission for the day
… and after practicing their super hero postures,
… they sprang into action
Team Adam learnt about the wonders of wicking ..
With a wave (well, several, actually a lot of waving) of an enchanted spade, a new garden bed was created ..
Not to be outdone, King Alastair lead a team to assemble his custom-designed raised beds
Even the most ardent super volunteer needs an occasional sit down
Out the front, Queen Ko explained her vision for a wildlife-sanctuary water feature ..
And our heroes went to work with zeal and vigour
Ko and Kat anxiously watch the filling of the pond
Success!
With the job done and the garden complete, our team and our super-heroes dispersed for another day and another Permablitz call…
Check out this fantastic pond made by participants in our South Kingsville Permablitz! It collects runoff from a paved area and will be naturally filtered and kept mosquito-free by the plants and water bugs we’ve introduced! Special attention was paid to creating lots of different ecological niches – a bog, mid depth shelf and deeper zone – so that many plants and animals will be able to call this pond home.
The Kingsville South Permablitz was organised by the good folk at My Smart Garden. Check ’em out!
