Two weekends after the Permablitz proper, the design team returned to wrap up the job. It was amazing to see how much lighter and more open the backyard looked, and how well the alternative lawn was settling in!
A great design has ensured that this garden will serve Alex and Nicole well into the future, and the garden is already providing not only food but play spaces too!
Three years after their permablitz, Michelle and Chris now have all the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and other veggies they could want. And with the herbs beds, there is generally enough seasonal produce for the whole family!
This blitz heated up as eager blitz volunteers met in the brick and concrete settings of the Box Hill Central Mall with a vision of transformative action – some herb’n’veggie-filled wicking beds were going to be made!

Jess and Matt lead the team, setting up two wicking beds, installing some fence posts and planting some fruit trees, as well as building the keyhole raised beds in the front yard. Awesome work!
